Precision Gene Therapy for Liver Cancer
Firstgene Life Sciences is advancing a next-generation gene therapy for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) – engineered for targeted delivery, maximum efficacy, and reduced side effects.
Pioneering Precision Therapies in Liver Oncology
Targeted Therapy Through Innovation
Our therapy is built on a breakthrough gene delivery platform licensed from Hovione, which enables precise steering of adeno-associated virus (AAV) vectors directly to cancerous liver cells. This specificity significantly enhances therapeutic efficacy, having the potential to reduce side effects, and enables more efficient, sustainable manufacturing – a critical advancement over current gene therapy standards. Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common type of primary liver cancer and represents a major global health challenge. Each year, approximately 900,000 new cases are diagnosed worldwide. Despite advancements in medical research, the 5-year survival rate remains alarmingly low at just 21%. These figures underline the urgent need for more effective and targeted treatment options, particularly for patients who are diagnosed at an advanced stage or are not eligible for surgical interventions.
A Strategic Collaboration with Hovione
Our work is made possible through an exclusive technology license from Hovione, a globally recognized leader in pharmaceutical innovation. Their proprietary AAV-targeting platform is the foundation of our precision gene therapy approach and a key enabler of our progress. This collaboration empowers us to develop a therapy that’s not only scientifically robust but also scalable – supporting broad patient access in the long run.
